Infant Five Point Harness Car Seat

Infant Five Point Harness Car Seat

There are few things to remember when buying a new or gently used car seat.

  1. Check the expiration date.  Brittle Car Seat Plastic can be very damaging in a car crash.  Expiration dates for car seats were instituted because over time the Car Seat Plastic can become weaker, therefore reducing it’s protective qualities in a car accident.
  2. Do I need this car seat to be airline rated?  Airlines have begun checking for qualified car seats upon boarding a plane.  Keep your infant or child safe when you fly by placing them in a secure Airline Rated Car Seat.
  3. Weight Requirements – Check the user manual for your car seat’s weight requirement.
  4. Forward Facing or Rear Facing Car Seat – Depending on the age and weight of the child, the car seat needs to face front or back.
  5. Recall Check your Car Seat – Check the recall feed for any information for your car seat.  If you have purchased a car seat, and it has been recalled, simply follow the instructions on the recall notice.  Sometimes you can just take it back to the store (even if you don’t have the receipt) or the Car Seat Manufacturer will send you a new one, or a replacement part to fix the faulty Car Seat part.
